Michael & Cara Montalvo

Hello!

Our names are Michael & Cara Montalvo and we are licensed Pen. Florida ministers starting our journey of career missions to the “Warm Heart of Africa”…Malawi! My wife and I are both living testimonies of the amazing ministry happening at Faith Assembly in Orlando where we got saved, delivered and called through the youth ministry.

When I was in high school, I attended a summer camp where the Lord called me to missions. At the altar one night, the speaker asked us to envision the “chalkboard of our life” and allow God to have to chalk, giving Him full reign to enact His Will in our life. That night, I saw a vision of God writing “Missionary” on my chalkboard. Shortly thereafter, He spoke to me to “serve my community before serving someone else’s.” So I joined our church’s leadership college, where we studied Global University classes to obtain our ministerial licenses. That’s where I met Cara. 

Cara had rededicated her life to Christ after being raised in a Christian home and walking away from the Lord. At Faith Assembly, she was radically changed and called to full-time ministry at our young adult’s ministry. Here, God called Cara to missions as well and awakened a passion and desire for Cara to take the first opportunity she could to go to Africa in 2017!

In the summer of 2020, Cara and I got married and began to pray for the Lord to call us both to share one vision for a life in missions together. That fall, our youth ministry had a Speed the Light fundraising drive for WorldServe International, building water systems in Sub Saharan Africa. We prayed for God to tell us how much we should give, and He quickly told  us a very sacrificial percentage of our income.

Deep in my spirit at that same moment, I recalled that the Word says in Matthew that, “where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” About 2 weeks later, the Lord confirmed that word by showing me a vision of the two of us serving the Youth of Africa. So we said YES to the call.  Shortly after that, we found out we were pregnant with our twin boys! What a permanent reminder to us that in the midst of our “Yes,” Simon & Jesse were always a part of that call as well.
