Brad & Becky Schowengerdt

WHO THEY ARE:

Brad and Becky Schowengerdt are Career Missionaries to the Solomon Islands.   Brad grew up in a ministry family involved in churches in rural Nebraska.  He initially felt called into missions at the age of 10. Becky was also raised in rural Nebraska in a family dedicated to working wherever needed in their local church. Becky started reading missionary stories at a young age and developed a love for missions and for those willing to answer God’s call.  They first met in a youth Sunday School class at the age of 18 and were married a year later.  

THEIR JOURNEY:

They settled in Springfield, Missouri and were involved in their church, serving in nearly all aspects of church ministry for thirteen years.  Becky completed her schooling to become a Physician Assistant in 2013.  Brad became a credentialed minister in 2014.  In 2015, Brad felt God leading him to pastor full-time and they accepted a position as Lead Pastors at a rural church in North Texas.  In 2021, Brad felt God strongly calling him once again to missions and then in 2022 they knew their call was for the Solomon Islands.  After pastoring nearly seven years, the couple transitioned from their church to prepare for missions.  

THEIR FAMILY: 

Brad and Becky raised three sons: Harrison, Connor, and Wesley.  Harrison resides with his wife, Sara, and daughter, Gracelyn, in Waxahachie Texas.  Connor and his wife, Melody, reside in College Station Texas.  In 2023, at the age of 19, Wesley ran into the arms of Jesus after a nearly three year battle with cancer.  Through their loss, the family attests to “the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding” spoken of in Philippians.

THEIR MISSION:

Their ultimate goal is to see the Light of Jesus spread throughout the nine provinces of the Solomon Islands. To accomplish this goal, they plan to initially build relationships among the local people, and learn the culture and language.  Brad is a great motivator and will assist in pastoral training and outreach, inspiring the national churches in church planting initiatives.  Becky will utilize compassionate ministry with medical evangelism and health education outreach events.
